Just in case anybody had forgotten that Kobe Bryant has never won an NBA title without Shaquille O’Neal, the big man sent out a reminder.
The Phoenix Suns center can be seen rapping that “Kobe couldn’t do without me” in a video posted online at celebrity news and gossip site TMZ.com
During the two-minute video, a grinning O’Neal lurches through an improvised rap in which he skewers the Lakers’ star, with whom he won three straight NBA titles from 2000-2002 while with Los Angeles.
“I was freestyling. That’s all. It was all done in fun. Nothing serious whatsoever,” O’Neal told ESPN.com Monday. “That is what MC’s do. They freestyle when called upon. I’m totally cool with Kobe. No issue at all.”
O’Neal and Bryant last played together in 2004. After a long-simmering feud came to a boil in public, O’Neal was traded to Miami before the 2004-05 season, and won an NBA championship with the Heat in 2006.
Bryant and the Lakers didn’t reach the finals again until earlier this month, when the Boston Celtics beat them 4-2.
“You know how I be,” Shaq rapped. “Last week Kobe couldn’t do without me.”
O’Neal, who has recorded seven albums, also said he is “the difference between first and last place” and even took a jab at former New York Knicks center Patrick Ewing’s lack of championship rings.

American Airlines Flight 915 scheduled to leave from Miami traveling to Bogota, Colombia, was delayed Wednesday night after a skunk was found in the back of the cargo hold, discharging its foul odor throughout the aircraft. Having been discovered, the plane’s loading crew attempted ot remove it. In the process of removing it, the skunk sprayed everything. There were no injuries, if you do not include the sensible sense of smell of the crew, passengers, and the loading crew.
The flight took off more than two hours late. Officials said it was also due to the bad weather in the Miami area. The skunk was removed from the plane, but it was unclear where it was taken or how it got on the aircraft.
No details could be further provided by airport officials.

Elian Gonzalez, the Cuban boy at the center of an international custody battle eight years ago has joined Cuba’s Young Communist Union and never let down ex-President Fidel Castro and his brother Raul Castro, according to the Communist youth newspaper Juventud Rebelde.
Now 14, Elian was 6 when his relatives in Miami lost their fight to keep him in the United States, and he was returned to Cuba in mid-2000 with his father, after surviving a boating accident off the Florida coast that killed his mother while attempting to get to the U.S.
The newspaper reported Sunday that the boy was among 18,000 people who joined the group.
