Researchers have produced aerial photos of jungle dwellers who may be among the few remaining peoples on Earth who have had no contact with the outside world.

The photos, taken from a small airplane in a remote corner of the Amazonian rainforest, show men outside thatched huts. Their necks are craned upwards, pointing their bows toward the air .

The photos were published on website of The National Indian Foundation, a government agency in Brazil. It tracks “uncontacted tribes” (indigenous groups) that are thought to have had no contact with outsiders and seeks to protect them.
